Limited to 18 dentists and their assistants, this full Hands-on course will incorporate live demonstrations and the opportunity to practice on patients. Assistants are encouraged to attend.

A recent survey showed that not many GPs use rubber dam routinely for dental procedures. This is mainly due to inadequate teaching, and past bad experiences. This rubber dam course will show you how to isolate teeth in different situations, quickly and with relative ease. Taking the stress out of rubber dam placement, and making dentistry fun.

Rubber dam isolation isn’t just about moisture control, it speaks to the quality of your work, the longevity of your restorations, and the pride you take in everything you do.

With the modern dentist now able to remove less tooth structure to give patients beautiful, functional and long-lasting restorations, there is a shift towards non-retentive minimal preparations for all our restorative procedures. These restorations are however dependent on our ability to achieve a predictably bond to the tooth structure. ABSOLUTE ISOLATION of our working field is essential in order to attain a reliable, quality and trustworthy tooth-restorative bond.

Dr Kaveer Rattan BChD – (UWC) PDD Implantology (UP)




Dr Kaveer Ratan is a General practitioner and a director at Ratan and Singh Advanced Dentistry in cape town. Dr Ratan has a special interest in implantology and restorative dentistry, member of the ITI, a SAAAD ambassador and Nexus Mentor. Dr Ratan graduated at the University of the western cape in 2010 and completed a diploma in surgical and prosthetic implantology at the university of Pretoria in 2015. Isolation in restorative dentistry is a huge part of his everyday practice.

Dr Jean van Lierop – BChD, MSc (Restorative Dentistry), PDD (Aesthetics Dentistry)



Dr van Lierop s a founding member and current past president of The South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD) and co-founder of “The Bridge Program”. With a strong belief in the value of sharing knowledge, Dr van Lierop has has complete his MSc in Restorative Dentistry and a PDD in Aesthetic Dentistry. He has presented numerous workshops and lectures to local and international colleagues throughout Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Dr Corne Smith – BChD (pret), PDD (aesthetic dentistry) (uwc)



Corné is the current President of the South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD), where she has been serving on the executive Committee since 2018. Corné co-founded The Bridge Program 5 years ago, with a vision to empower and educate young dentists, and has been lecturing on several clinical and non-clinical topics in South Africa, She is currently a key opinion leader for 3M and Tokuyama dental.

Corné graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2005, and has since completed post graduate diplomas in orthodontics and aesthetic dentistry. She is the founder and co-owner of Smith and van Lierop advanced restorative dentistry in Newlands Cape Town, where her passion is to create beautiful smiles.
